The Root of the Dog Shelter Problems

I am aware that the root of the problem with animal abuse lies in human beings. The greed, ignorance, selfishness and thoughtlessness of human beings are what create situations of abuse, neglect and abandonment.

Shelters are drowning, especially now that more people than ever are giving up their pets or just dumping them to die slowly in any number of cruel manners. And in this economy, donations are disappearing.

That is why as a Christian, I know it is critical to focus on the spiritual healing and education of the very people who create the shelters' problems in the first place. Most people live irresponsibly and think only of themselves. Unless the people are healed and enter the protection and peace of God's sovereignty, they will continue to live as if this life were the only one.

A true Christian lives to help people understand that there is a better world, that this one has been messed up by us and that the only hope lies in getting to know the real God. He's the only one who can help each one of us.

I'm praying that He will give me a path to combine the message of the grace of His offer, with the practical earthly goal of alleviating animal suffering that weighs so heavily on my soul.

And if I have to minister to and love HUMAN BEINGS (ugh) to do it, then darn it I will.

This is a good link to some touching photos of shelter dogs. (Just wish they had some pitties ;)
